Jono Scott Announces Run for City Council

Longtime Aurora Resident and Vice-Chair of the Citizen’s Advisory Budget Committee announced today that he is a candidate for the Aurora City Council in Ward 3, which includes the city center of Aurora.  Jono Scott has lived in Ward 3 since he was a child and has been a local Pastor for the last 17 years. He is also a husband, father of four, and director of a local foodbank.

Jono Scott said, “Having lived in Aurora’s Ward 3 since I was a child, Aurora is near and dear to my heart. I grew up here. I was a teenager here. I called Aurora home as a college student and young adult. I am raising my family here. I’ve lived here for over thirty years and I want my family to feel safe, confident, and excited to call Aurora home for at least the next thirty years.”

Scott’s campaign slogan is “Serving Today. Set for Tomorrow.” He believes that he can bring a well-rounded, beneficial perspective to council. He credits his experience as an executive officer on the City’s Budget Committee, his leadership and service as director of a local foodbank, and his work as a Pastor as contributing factors to his qualifications.

“As much as I love Aurora, I am genuinely concerned for my city. I am running for Aurora’s Ward 3 City Council seat because I know how important this election is for the future of our city. If we are going to enjoy a high quality of life and be proud to call Aurora home for generations to come, we must ‘SET’ a proper path forward. For Aurora to excel in the future, we must focus on public safety, economic growth, and our transportation infrastructure.”

Scott explains that the main issues that must be addressed for Aurora to be “Set for the future” are (1) Safety, (2) Economic Development, and (3) Transportation.
